Helpful Cleaning Tip

Sorry that I have been missing from the blogging scene lately.  I don't really have an excuse except for enjoying our little girl.  I will be posting more frequently now because this is the only way I am documenting our life here.  So stay tuned because I will be catching you up on some of the important moments that have happened to us in the past few months in the next few weeks.  So I have been reading a lot of blogs (and of course pinterest) and have come back with some helpful tips and fun ideas.  I thought I would be more addicted to pinterest because I can read dozens of blogs and not get bored but pinterest takes time to search.  Usually if I see something on a friend's board that I like I will pin it but I don't actively go looking for stuff to pin.  Well enough rambling...so I have been super frustrated with the cleaning ability of bleach for my whites.  I found that no matter how much bleach that I used I still had stains on my clothes and also some of Gen's stuff. (I was getting to the point where I was screaming at the world about why clothing companies even make white clothing for babies because there is absolutely no way to keep a baby from staining a white t-shirt unless you only let them wear it for .1 seconds, but I digress).  I came across this solution to getting your whites whiter and taking stains out of whites.  I don't have anyone to give this credit to but just know that it was not me that came up with this.  So all of you parents out there who are just as frustrated listen up!

What you will need:
Dawn (sorry it has to be the actual brand name, it doesn't work otherwise)
Hydrogen Peroxide
White clothes with stains (I haven't tried colors yet so don't know if they would work. I don't see why they couldn't help take out stains and I will try it one of these days.  I will let you know how that goes).

Recipe:
1 part dawn to two parts hydrogen peroxide
This means that you use one cup dawn and two cups hydrogen peroxide to the bowl/sink that you plan on using. You just continue do add this ratio of solution until you have enough to soak the amount of clothes you want to do clean.

You mix the solution together and then toss in your clothes.  They say that you can soak it for 15 minutes but I soaked it for several hours to get the most dramatic result.  You could even soak it overnight or 24 hours like the lady that I found this from.

I was so happy with how everything turned out except for Gen's white leggings.  I think that next time I will scrub those with the solution to see if I can't get them cleaner. Not pictured are a pair of my undergarments that I cleaned.  Oh my gosh they were fantastic!  The lady I got this from mentioned that it might be great to try this on some undergarments that have gotten a little of that time of the month on them to clean this (sorry if that's a little tmi for you).  It worked fantastic for this and there is barely a stain!  I would give this a try if you need to get some stains out of white clothing!  It's not very economical to do all of your whites in but if you have a couple of pieces you really want to get clean go for it you won't regret it!
