I have been thinking about gratitude a lot lately ever since I posted and being ungrateful for the things that I have. Last night I read a blog about this woman and her family losing the life of her third son. I was sobbing through the whole thing and when I finally went to lay down for the night I still cried a little for this family. After I was done though I felt a sense of peace come over me and it was such a confirmation to know that the Lord has a plan for us all and loves us dearly. In one of her posts she had a quote that made me realize that we are too selfish sometimes for our own good. We don't realize that we are living on borrowed time from the Lord and that our Heavenly Father who is our Father in heaven wants us back too.
“The Lord takes many away, even in infancy, that they may escape the envy of man, and the sorrows and evils of this present world; they were too pure, too lovely, to live on earth; therefore, if rightly considered, instead of mourning we have reason to rejoice as they are delivered from evil, and we shall soon have them again.”
Joseph Smith Jr., Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, sel. Joseph Fielding Smith (1976), 196–97.
This woman is such an inspiration to many. Please go and visit her blog and read the story for yourselves.
